NHL-sæsonen 1985-86 var den 69. sæson i National Hockey League. Enogtyve hold spillede hver 80 kampe. I denne sæson indførte ligaens bestyrelse Presidents' Trophy, som skulle gå til holdet med den bedste samlede statistik i den regulære NHL-sæson. Edmonton Oilers blev de første vindere af denne pris.
